Responsibility On Probation Period
The succesful candidates, who successfully clear all the 3 stages of SBI PO exam, undergo a hard-core training during a probation period of 2 years. During this period a PO is subjected to frequent trainings and transfers.
During the probation period, the POs will be assigned any kind of bank related activity. The POs will be given training in various departments like Finance, Marketing, Billing, Accounting & Investment to help them gain practical knowledge. Probationary Officers are also assigned different tasks including handling and addressing customer queries, looking into complaints,bank services, issue ATM Cards, Demand Drafts, Cheque books, rectifying undue charges & discrepancies in accounts.
The POs are also responsible for certain Managerial tasks such as supervising the work of Bank clerks, verification of documents, managing cash balance and sometimes they have to complete the tasks of bank clerks if posts are vacant.When the POs are sufficiently experienced and trained, they’re given more responsibilities like Budgeting, Loan Processing, Loan Approvals, Marketing, and Planning & Managing Investments.
The SBI POs are initially designated as JMGS Scale 1 officer. They may be posted at Local Head Office, Regional Business office, Special Branches or Zonal Offices
Responsibility on Post-Probation Period
After successfully completeing the probation period, the POs undergo a screening test to ensure their confirmation of emplyment as an‘Assistant Bank Manager’ and they can be posted to one of the branches. As Assistant Bank Managers, the POs are responsible for handling daily customer transactions, such as Cash Management, Draft Issuance and Passing Cheques.

SBI PO Salary Structure
The State Bank of India offers the highest salary for the entry level Probationary Officers in the Banking Industry along with 4 increments at initial stages. The post of SBI PO draws an annual package of minimum 8.20 Lakhs to maximum 13.08 Lakhs depending on the place of posting and other factors.

Dearness Allowance :
46.9% of Basic Pay(Revised Quarterly)
House Rent Allowance :
8000/-(For Rural Areas) & 29500/-( For Urban Areas)
City Compensatory Allowance :
3-4% of Basic(Depending Upon Posting)
Furniture Allowance :
Medical Insurance :
100% medical insurance for SBI employees & 75% for their dependants
Travelling Allowance :
AC 2 Tier ticket fare is provided(Only for Official Visits)
Petrol Allowance :
50 L(For 2 wheeler) & 55 L(For 4 wheeler) or 1100-1250/-( Without Vehicle)
Other Allowance :
